Sue Keating is an artist who lives in Deer Isle, Maine and Miami, Florida. Selling her successful business, Sweet Pea Gardens, and historic farmhouse and gardens afforded her the time and resources to nurture and pursue a long-time interest in the visual arts. In recent years she has studied with Maryann Lucas and Beth Rundquist and continued to develop her skills through courses offered by NYC Academy of Arts, EastOak Studios, Oolite Arts, and many online workshops.  Sue’s creative spirit manifests itself in her unique background as an entrepreneur, business owner, workshop leader, marketing professional, and sought-after floral designer, long time gardener, avid sheller and cook. Her passions are now culminating in painting.
Her design work and expertise with growing and arranging flowers has been featured on Martha Stewart Living TV as well as in a variety of national magazines including Martha Stewart Living, Country Living, DownEast and Garden Design. Sue continues to consult in the floral design field and has shared her signature style with florists across the country.  Like her mother, Sue has gravitated toward painting as her chosen medium. Many of her landscapes reflect her deep appreciation of nature and the rugged coast of Maine.
Her still life paintings, on the other hand, capture her intimate connection with flowers and gardens. Regardless of her subject, Sue is moved by color, light, and the power of memory. Her greatest desire is to nurture the best in others, helping them to experience beauty and meaning through her paintings and workshop experiences in her studio space or a dreamy off site location.
